Welcome to Year 3 and 4- Class News

To start the school year our Topic is ‘Pharaohs.’

During our topic we will learn about Ancient Egypt and their some gruesome ways through a variety of different subjects. We started the topic with a mummification drama which gave the children an insight to some of their traditions. This is a history based topic so we will be exploring this period in history in a variety of ways.

Geography links will be learning about the physical features of Egypt such as the climate, the Nile as well as how tourism affects the country today.

In Art we have already begun some topic pictures using different media to be displayed at the show this weekend as well as some sketches within our topic books.

Numeracy and Literacy will be taught separately with links made wherever possible as will these other subjects - P.E, ICT, SCIENCE and RE.

P.E is taught on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon so please ensure you have a full kit including indoor (shorts and t-shirts) and outdoor kit (plain, dark tracksuit bottoms and hoody/jumper plus trainers.)  It is useful to have the kit in school all week just in case P.E needs to be changed for whatever reason.

Homework will be set on a Friday and is to be handed in on a Wednesday morning.  This should give you a full weekend and a couple of extra days in case your family plans are busy over the weekend.   I will endeavour to set a piece of homework in the homework books for English/Topic work each week.  Maths homework will be set via My Maths and your child has brought home their logins during the first week.  Please let me know if you need help or support in logging in.

Future topics for the year are:

Burp, bottoms and bile

Misty Mountains

Star Gazers

Traders and Raiders

Urban Pioneers

As always, if you ever need to speak to me or if you need further information then please get in touch with me.

Yours Sincerely
